We frequently receive requests asking how to clean and care for toleware. After10 years of trial and errorwe have found that the best and safest method is orange oil or lemon oil (the spray bottle kind that we usually use on furniture.)We prefer the orange oil. Spray a good amount on a soft paper towel and rub the metal gently and quickly. Try to avoid any chippy areas. Use another clean paper towel to wipe clean, making sure you remove all of the oil.
Never use water to clean your trays especiallyblackor red trays. Thiscan causethe white cloudy areasthatwe sometime seeon vintage trays. Also, do not subject dark trays to direct sunlight for long periods. Every rule has an exception and the exception here is lighter colored trays that have a brownish coating of nicotine. These trays will need a light cleaning with a damp cloth and a mild detergent and then follow quicklywith the oil. This method will give your trays new life! They will look rich, clean, and stunning!
We hope this answers some questions and helps with the care of your treasured tole. Dont forget to check outour trays and lamps! {If you found this to behelpful, kindly scroll to the bottom
