Just wondering from all the discussion I have seen cases marked J.Boss 14K Guaranteed 20 years are gold filled. Is this always correct?

.....I have an old (1944) Omega bump hammer auto in 18K. It runs, keeps time. and is solid. I got nostalgic and thought to get it cleaned , new crystal, maybe new dial. Went to Omega's site and found the local service shop. Just got the call, it's too old for them, must be sent to Switzerland for evaluation. $800.00 plus $75.00 shipping if I want the service. WTF??? Are they just blowing me off or what? To the Bay. If wishes were horses beggars would ride.

Well I have an "omega" watch, which I would like to list, but do not want to get into trouble with eBay in case it is a fake. I truly want to thank you all beforehand!!! I took this watch to my jeweler and he says it is real. He says it needs a coil, a cleaning and and overhaul, he did not add a battery....because it would not work as it is. Do you all think this may be original? Is it a ladies or men, or both? The speidel black lizard grain band is deteriorating.

I have my Dad's Rolex Victory watch, which he left me when he passed away. He was a Vet. from WW2 in the Canadian Army and served over seas. Trade mark violation - Listing keeps getting removed - Please help!

Hi all, I'd bought a rolex watch from eBay about an year back from a seller here (marlin57) for about 1500 dollars. I was really happy with this watch but moved on now and bought a Jaeger, but have not been able to sell it back now and cant figure out why. though my recent listing has been removed by eBay, you can see an older listing of the same watch (item 120432130136). That buyer backed out and i've been trying to relist it ever since and failed. Can somebody here tell me what is wrong with my listing and why eBay is removing it? Swatch Watches St Germain MacKintosh Sandy Mountains...

Two of these are very rare. They have light scratches on the glass, one of the bands has a tear in the back, other wise they are in good condition with new batteries, packaging etc. Would you list them in a lot or separately? 14k accoutron scrap, have fixed or sale as is?

We have a non running 14K 214 accoutron. Lady said it could not be fixed. With a new battery hear a hum but hands do not move. Looks to nice to me to scrap 13.22 dwts. Needs a crystal. I am not sure if it would be worth the investment to have fixed or not.

I need some help with an1887 Elgin pocket watch. I figured out how to wind it up, but I can figure out how to set the time. I think there should be a lever someplace, but I don't know where. I have bought a watch. The seller has declared a guarantee 2 years. For two years a watch has broken three times. Guarantee repair has been made free of charge two times. In third time the seller demands payment of repair and the postage. The guarantee has ended 8/06/2009. The Watch has been sent the seller 21/05/2009. There is a post receipt with sending date. How I can complain of the seller who does not carry out guarantee certificates?

Greetings to these boards! I hope I'm in the right place for answers I recently sold this Vintage Lucerne ladies' watch to a friend, and was confident it was from the 40's-50's. But when she took it to a jeweler, she was told it was a "reproduction"?! I do believe the band is "newer". And are those genuine "diamond" chips? Hi, I have my eyes on a watch that cost within the region of 2800 to 3000. Problem is the seller has 0 feedback but has been a member since 2004. Strange ? My question is, if I were to win the watch and have it inspected for authenticity first before payment, if the results are that its a fake, am I bound by any ebay rules or laws that I still have to pay for the watch? PLEASE Help with This White Gold Watch, Art Deco ?

I've had this old watch in my dresser drawer for years. My mother found it in an old desk drawer we bought when I was kid and she gave it to me before she passed away to do what I want with it. It's never worked and I have no idea why. The face has etched roses and DIONE on the bottom and SWISS on the top. When you open it and remove the Works it says "Dione Watch Co Swiss" on the back of the Works and "Seventeen Jewels". The inside of the case is marked "Elgin Giant Watch Case Co" 14K. and some numerals after that. As you can see the band needs to be reattached (I believe the band is stainless steel), the glass is scratched, not to mention it's not working. Do you think it's worth fixing or selling As-is ? Also, any ideas what the blue jewel is on the dial ? --

I just bought my first Rolex watch. When I received it, it wasn't running, so I winded it up to get it started and then wore it the entire day. But I since had to wind-up the watch multiple times (5x), because it keeps stopping. 1)Has anyone experienced this type of problem with a self-winding watch? 2) How active must I be for the watch to get enough wound-up? How to open a Bucherer 1510 A Wristwatch Chronometer

I have been unable to figure out how to open this automatic watch which is not running. The scratched crystal removes easily but I don't see any place to insert a tool on the back. The hole for the stem does not communicate with either the front dial opening or the back. The outside of the case is not marked for metal content. Underneath the Swiss Made Waterproof Automatic Antimagnetic Incabloc is 1510A. Any help would be appreciated. Is there a book published that includes information about opening different types of watches? Thanks in advance.

A seller has a great-looking Omega Art Deco solid gold 14K Omega watch from 1911. What has me confused is that while it is stamped 14K, it also has a Swiss pheasant hallmark and a German Crescent moon and crown hallmark. Both the pheasant and the moon w/crown hallmark are for silver, not gold, according to my watch reference book. This doesn't make any sense to me. Am I wrong to be suspicious?

This watch was left to me by my ex-husband's step Grandmother (it's a long story!) I was told it might have been late 50's or 60's. It's a backwind in 18kt gold. I have been to several watch dealers and have looked through a huge watch price guide as well as looked here on ebay, but I can't find anything just like it. I had planned on selling it for the gold content (approx 40 grams) since the main spring is broken and I don't ever wear it. I'd hate to have it just melted without first trying to see if it has more value as a vintage watch that's worth repairing. Hi there I have a 2003 moded swatch chronograph with the 3 central dials. I cannot get the chrono to reset. This is a real pain... I've forgotten how to use the chrono function and playing with it doesn't seem to work at all. The battery is fine. I have a beautiful mens Longines 14kt YG watch that was handed down through my family estate. I have tried to research this on my own but can not find a watch close enough to mine to even guess at a value. It is 17 jewels serial number 7995677 which I believe dates it to the 1940's. From the "experts" I have gathered that it is marked 9L, unadjusted, calibrated #2517 and is solid 14kt gold (band and case included weighing approx 28.65). OMG this thing weighs a bloody ton, it is 18" wide by 18" high and by 4" wide It is marked Mfd by the Self Winding Watch Company, New York, NY U.S.A Synchronized Self Winding on the face I'm trying to at least come up with some type of value for this piece, I have not seen one sold, nor have I been able to find one by googling it. Any thoughts, or direction I can take. It simply neat, but fear my DH wants to hang it on our living room wall...yikessssssss

Gucci watch-real or fake?

I got a Gucci watch a while back, don't know too much abt watches, but I know Gucci is often faked. how do I tell the real from the fake? I'm embarressed to admit that I saw a show a while back that showed how to tell the fake Gucci's, but can't remember a thing I heard. old timer's disease. lol. anyway, it's square, with a troff (sp?) around the bezel, and there's no numbers. the face is "mood stone", in that it changes color with temperature change. Gucci is written at 12;00 and something tiny is written at 6:00. the back says Gucci and has an emblem of some sort but my jeweler's loop went walking yesterday and these old eyes aren't cooperating with a regular magnifying glass. that's all I can tell you abt it until I find where I hid my loop from myself...

Hi again! Thanks before hand to all of you!! I have this lapel watch, missing the lapel pin part,frame is lucite in form of a horseshoe. I cannot find anything on this maker. It reads Henry Turnheim Schmitz Swiss Nickel. It is NOT working, it winds and winds.....but nothing. There is a worn spot on the lucite horseshoe between 11 and 12 oclock, to me it looks like a worn spot, maybe from flipping it when worn....it almost looks lke a very minor melt? Silver General Pocket Watch/swiss made can't find any info

I recently bought a pocket watch that runs beautifully but I can't find any information on it. Please Help-- the face i believe is consider double sunk and on the bottom of the face below the 6 it says SWISS, inside on the cover it states GENERAL W. Co. SWISS with what looks to be a stamped lion and the #'s in a box 0.925 then below that it has a Z and below that a bunch of #'s, On the second cover that opens to the movement it also has a box with the # 0.925 with the animal stamp below it and below that a bunch of #'s and the letter Z. On the movement it states GENERAL W. Co. SWISS, 2 ADJUSTMENTS, 7 JEWELS. Please help with any info anyone might have ty ty ty ty!

Help with ladies 1970's Omega watch 14K

I inherited this watch from my mother and remember her wearing it in the 1970's and 80's. I've spent hours online trying to find out the model name and other info, but have found very little information. It is marked 14K on the band and case. The inside case numbers are: H 8928 and 226901.The movement is marked 22 jewel, 1070 (calibre), and a what I assume is the serial number 693292 It is not running, so that brings up the question, if I were to sell it, is it worth getting it cleaned and repaired, or is it worth more for the gold value. Any information would be much appreciated!
