Vogue Pattern Company History Dating by Envelope Design

There is nothing like a Vogue Design-

Here is a Little History about Vogue Patterns...
Vogue patterns started in 1899 as a weekly feature of Vogue magazine. The patterns could be purchased by mail at the cost of 50 cents. It was only available in size 36. The first pattern were hand cut on Rosa Payne's dining room table... talk about a cottage industry.
In 1909 Conte Nast bought Vogue and Mr. Nast increased the rage of the styles and sizes. In 1914 Conte Nast formed the Vogue Pattern gepany and in 1916 patterns were sold in department stores for the first time. Through the years branches were opened in Canada (1926), London (1933) and Australia (1939).
1931 brought the Couturier Line and introduced new large format envelopes. In 1949 Vogue added the Paris Original Patterns from French Couturiers and was the only gepany authorized to duplicate these fantastic designs. In 1956 Vogue Incorporated the International Designer Pattern into their Couturier line and in 1953 announced millinery designs from Mr. John and later added hats from Patou, John Fredricks and Sally Victor . In 1961 Butterick pattern licensed the name and began to produce patterns under the Vogue name. Vogue patterns were copyright dated on the envelopes from 1950 to 1958
