Buying "Pink" jade
There is a new phenomenon on okay, there is a large influx of"Pink" jade, something that I as a dealer of jade for over 35 years am amazed by. To begin with, pink jade is one of the most rare colors of jadeite there is, even more rare than so called imperial jade, so to see so much listed now is like walking into a field and finding that it is covered in raw diamonds. Unfortunately you have as much chanceof doing this as in actually buying true pink jadeite. The majority of what i see being sold as pink jade is in actuality rose quartz or rhodocrosite, both rather gemon and inexpensive stones, additionally, especially from China, true quartz is being dyed pink and sold as pink jade. All is not bad, though, I have made some good buys of antique or vintage carved rose quartz quite cheaply simply because it was misnamed. As with so much on okay, the buyer must be wary of the deal that is too good to pass up.
